Members of the National Education Union, the largest teaching union in England and Wales, have  in a dispute over pay.
Seven days of strike action are planned to take place in February and March across England and Wales. The NEU has indicated any individual school will only be affected by a maximum of four of the seven days. Overall, 90% of balloted members in England voted in favour of industrial action to pursue a funded above inflation pay rise.
Steve Edmonds, Director of Advice and Guidance at the É«ÇéPorn"We respect the decision taken by NEU members who are understandably concerned about the continuing erosion in teachers’ pay and its impact on recruitment and retention. É«ÇéPorn shares these concerns also. We are also concerned about the impact of any further disruption to pupils’ education after the pandemic and therefore call upon both sides in the dispute to work together towards a resolution without recourse to strike action."
